Those of you who have been around in the Kalamazoo area for a few years will probably remember when Ziggy’s Auto Sales was located on South Westnedge Avenue across from Meijer.

We had to move out when the Lowe’s store moved there in 2001/2002 but we always said that someday we’d like to be back on Westnedge.

Late last summer we got that chance to make good on that desire when we purchased the former Mi Ranchito location at 3806 South Westnedge Avenue. The original plan was to remodel the existing building, but we discovered some serious issues that made it safer and more cost-effective in the long run to raze the existing building and start over.

Fast forward a few months to now. In April the old cinder block retaining wall along the back of the property was replaced with a new rock wall. This week we poured the footings for the building. Next up: pouring the cement floor!
