FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are you located?
A: Our current location is in Kalamazoo on the corner of South Westnedge Avenue and Parker Avenue next to the Second Impressions Upscale Thrift Shoppe. Please see our map and directions page for further information.

Q: What kinds of vehicles do you sell?
A: We sell all kinds of later model cars, trucks, vans, mini-vans, and SUVs. If you have a specific vehicle in mind but don’t find it in our inventory, don’t worry. We will do our best to find just the vehicle you’re searching for.

Q: Do you buy vehicles?
A: Yes, but it depends on the vehicle. If you have something you’d like to sell, please call (269) 381-9039 and ask to speak with Ziggy.

Q: Do you take trade-ins?
A: Yes, but again it depends on the vehicle. In some cases, it is better to sell your vehicle yourself. Before you bring your vehicle to us, please have at least an idea of how much money you owe on it (if any) and how much money you’d like to get for it. That will give us a starting point to figure out the best way to meet your needs.

Q: How much is my vehicle worth?
A: Obtaining a vehicle’s worth is a difficult task. The worth of a vehicle fluctuates regionally as well as seasonally. Additionally, each vehicle’s worth will be different depending on factors like mileage. You can get a “ballpark” idea of your vehicle’s worth using the NADA Guide, the price guide of choice for dealers in the midwest. It is available at most book stores or online at nadaguides.com. Also, your bank, credit union, or insurance company should be able to give you an idea of your vehicle’s worth.

Q: Can I get financing?
A: We are not a “buy here, pay here” dealership, but we can take care of financing through our indirect lending partners. Parameters vary depending on the lender, so please call us or stop by for more details on financing. We are also happy to work with your bank or credit union if you are already approved for a loan at another institution.

Q: How much money should I have for a down-payment?
A: The amount of the down-payment depends on the vehicle and the lender, so please ask. However, the greater the down-payment, the smaller the remaining amount to be financed. Paying even a few hundred dollars more as a down-payment could save you several hundred dollars down the road as you make payments to the bank or credit union.

Q: What if my credit isn’t the best?
A: If we are not able to get you financed through the lenders we work with on an indirect basis you may still be able to get financing through another institution. If you live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school within the city limits of Kalamazoo you may be able to get a vehicle loan through Community Promise Federal Credit Union. You must visit them in person at 1313 Portage Street anytime during their regular business hours. When you go to apply for a loan, be sure that the address on your driver’s license is current and that you have your last two months of pay stubs with you.

Q: What is a documentary fee?
A: According to Public Acts of 2002, Act No. 699, a documentary preparation fee is charged on all vehicle sales. This fee shall not exceed 5% of the cash value of the motor vehicle or $210, whichever is less. This fee permits the recovery of costs incurred in preparing paperwork for a vehicle sale, and assumes that the fee is the same for all customers regardless of method of payment (cash or financing). If you would like more information about the documentary fee, we’ve prepared a brochure that you can download in PDF format here. (You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this file. You may download Adobe Acrobat Reader here.)

Q: May I take a vehicle for a test drive?
A: Yes. If you’d like to take a test drive, please call ahead and make an appointment so we can make sure that the vehicle is available and ready to go.

Q: May I test-drive a vehicle overnight?
A: No, our insurance does not allow for individuals to take our vehicles overnight.

Q: May I have a vehicle checked out by my mechanic?
A: Yes. Just let us know you’d like to take a vehicle to your mechanic. Then, call your mechanic to see if he or she prefers to have an appointment for a vehicle inspection. If so, please let us know when you need to take the vehicle so we can make sure it will be ready.

Q: What is your privacy policy?
A: If you have concerns about your privacy and what we do to protect the privacy of our customers, please view our privacy policy here.

Q: I have bad credit. I’d like to work on repairing it, but I don’t know where to start. Where can I go for help without being scammed?
A: Many people fall prey to debt relief and credit repair scams every day, so you have good reason to be concerned. We recommend you work with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling to find a non-profit counselor in your area.
